Made by hand in small batches in St Paul Minnesota, Sweet Cheeks Baby Food will change the way you feed your favorite small folks! Try some Wednesday, August 5 between 1 and 1. Sweet Cheeks owner Lori Karis works directly with Minnesota suppliers to source ingredients for her organic baby food line, including Old Orchard farms: a small family organic farm in Northfield; and Whole Grain Milling in Welcome, Minnesota. The apples used in the baby food come from Hoch Orchards in La Crescent, Minnesota. She supplements with organic produce from Mississippi Market in Saint Paul. Sweet Cheeks is made fresh weekly and frozen in individual, pre-packaged servings. Saint Paul resident Karis has been a professional nanny for 24 years and has always made baby food for her charges. Karis cooks Sweet Cheeks in a state certified commercial kitchen in West Saint Paul, and is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. She has more than two decades of experience making her own baby food and is a member of both Slow Food USA, and Local Harvest. “I’m passionate about helping to raise healthy children,” said Karis. “Organic baby food ensures the produce and grains have been grown without pesticides, chemicals or genetic modification.” She is also proud of supporting the growing locavore movement. Locavores are committed to eating food that is grown or produced locally. The Sweet Cheeks Baby Food line has three levels of food for new eaters. Newbies are single, easily digested fruits and vegetables for babies six months and older. Combos, for babies eight months and older, introduce a bit of texture with a mix of veggies, fruits and grains. The final level is the Baby ‘role. It’s a baby casserole! It consists of tasty veggies simmered together, pureed, and then combined with grains until chunky. Suitable for babies one year and older, the result is tasty and healthy; and ideal for toddlers learning to feed themselves. There are no fats, oils or seasonings in any Sweet Cheeks products. All of the food is vegan. Besides the freezer at Linden Hills co-op, iou can also find Sweet Cheeks Baby Food on the MENU at the Birchwood Café. 2006 Linden Hills Co-op. All right reserved.
